SPEAK

Every day in summer season and weekends in September

All day

SPEAK is an exhibition about freedom of expression and the individuals who have been forced to flee because of their beliefs. It is a tribute to the fundamental right to speak freely, and is owned by Irene Khan, the United Nations Special Rapporteur on Freedom of Expression.

The exhibition aims to show why it is vital to protect the right to freedom of expression – and what is at stake when this right is denied. It features 20 powerful photographs and a long scroll listing the names of 1,800 journalists who have been killed for speaking out over the past 30 years. The images span the globe, with slogans, cartoons, poems, and personal testimonies telling the story of freedom of expression.

SPEAK is presented in collaboration with the World Expression Forum and is part of their annual conference from 1–4 June 2025. A “satellite” version of the exhibition, with selected images will also be on display at Lillehammer Hotel during the conference.
