100 years with Sigrid Undset


In 2019, it is 100 years since Sigrid Undset moved to Lillehammer and Bjerkebæk.

There will be various events througout the year.


The Home

Bjerkebæk is Sigrid Undset’s home and poet’s studio. She lived here with her three children in old timber-clad houses moved from two farms in Gudbrandsdalen.

The garden

A garden and its design can in many respects reflect the personality of the owner of the garden. This applies to Sigrid Undset’s garden. It was designed by Sigrid Undset, who was interested in botany and gardening, immediately following the purchase of Bjerkebæk in 1921.

At Bjerkebæk you will find a little café with beautiful view towards Sigrid Undst's houses og her garden.

Museum Shop

The museum shop at Bjerkebæk is a specialist bookshop, selling books by and about Sigrid Undset. In addition we also sell goods that Sigrid Undset enjoyed, such as filigree brooches, porcelain pots, tea, spices, lotions and soaps.
