In two timber houses, Sigrid Undset created her Bjerkebæk, a unique home furnished in a traditional way. Experience Bjerkebæk and see the life of Sigrid Undset as a mother, author, public debater, catholic and gardener.
A visit to Sigrid Undset’s home Bjerkebæk provides a unique cultural experience. The artist’s home remains as it was furnished during the 1930s by Sigrid Undset herself; it is a unique home filled with artefacts and books reflecting her personal taste.
A garden and its design can in many respects reflect the personality of the owner of the garden. This applies to Sigrid Undset’s garden. It was designed by Sigrid Undset, who was interested in botany and gardening, immediately following the purchase of Bjerkebæk in 1921.
The museum shop at Bjerkebæk is a specialist bookshop, selling books by and about Sigrid Undset. In addition we also sell goods that Sigrid Undset enjoyed, such as filigree brooches, porcelain pots, tea, spices, lotions and soaps.
